Brera Brera is one of the oldest and most elegant districts in Milan. While wandering through its charming streets captured between yesterday's history and today's worldliness, you can step into the the Pinacoteca di Brera, Milan's famous picture gallery.
Castello Sforzesco Initially a fortress built by the Visconti and Sforza families, royal dwelling in Medieval and Renaissance times, the Castle is surrounded by the beautiful Parco Sempione.
The hearth of Milan You cannot miss the pedestrian area in the very heart of town, an irresistible attraction for tourists and for the Milanese themselves, who enjoy walking around Via Dante, Piazza Duomo (the square in front of the Gothic Cathedral), the Palazzo Reale, the Vittorio Emanuele Gallery, and the famous piazza of the Scala Theatre.
Magenta This area dates back to centuries ago and its heart, Corso Magenta, flanked by boutiques, was a meeting place even when Milan was the capital of the Western Roman Empire. In this area you can visit one of Milan' treasures: the “Last Supper”, the world famous masterpiece by Leonardo da Vinci in the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie.
Porta Ticinese and the 'Navigli' A walk along the 'Navigli' canals, in one of the most picturesque districts of Milan, will introduce you to a world made of history, art and Milanese cuisine. Up until 1928 Milan was actually a 'waterway town' surrounded and crossed by several canals. If you are looking for a flash back into time, this is the right place. Some still consider it rather downmarket, although you will find some of the best shops, art galleries and restaurants in town. Avery pleasant area, buzzing with life until late at night, where you can listen to live music in countless bars and pubs.
Montenapoleone The most famous designers of 'Made in Italy' fashion have their workshops and shops in this world-famous area in Milan. It is known as 'Quadrilatero della Moda' since its four elegant streets Via Montenapoleone, Via del Gesù, Via Sant' Andrea, and Via della Spiga form a quadrilateral. |
